A unique Damascus pattern, the result of Baker Forge's expertise.
The Americans at Baker Forge & Tools are never short of ideas! In their own words: "This is one of the most original patterns we've ever forged!"
The GoMai Damascus, known as "Sunset", is a unique Damascus pattern that should be reserved for discerning knife-makers who want to work with only the most original materials.
Very rare in Europe, we are proud to add this exceptional grade to our growing range of special Damascus steels.
The GoMai - Sunset damascus, in details.
What makes the Baker Forge GoMai - Sunset Damascus so special? Beyond its appearance, it's its construction!
On a core of 80Crv2 carbon steel, Coy Baker and its teams have added a bronze strip, itself surrounded by copper. Once etched, the bronze centre will take on golden hues that will fuse with the copper to create a truly striking sunset effect.
And on top of that, the flanks that enclose this construction are made from Damascus steel forged from 15N20 and 1084 (similar to XC75) steel, for an extra touch of elegance.
A contrast underlined by the 80Crv2, which will come out a deep black after etching.
Etch the GoMai - Sunset damascus properly.
The Damascus steels produced by Baker Forge & Tools are special: it was necessary to develop a "tailor-made" etching solution for these grades.
This is where the Gator Piss comes into play. Behind this poetic name lies a blend specially formulated to etch damascus carbon steels composed of copper, bronze, nickel and other non-ferrous materials.
Gator Piss will strongly darken carbon grades while preserving the brightness and shine of nickel steels, without altering the softest components.
You can find out how to use this miracle product in its technical data sheet, available online.
Formats designed for all knife sizes.
We offer the GoMai - Sunset Damascus in two different formats, which are ideal for all kinds of projects.

- In 60 x 3 mm, for more ambitious projects, such as hunting or kitchen knife blades.
As always, we sell annealed and flat-ground GoMai - Sunset Damascus by the centimetre, cut to order.
Meet the maker : Baker Forge.
Baker Forge & Tools bears the name of its founder - Coy Baker.
A visionary in essence, he has been forging since he was very young, pushing his creativity further and further as his overflowing imagination takes him.
Imagining original alloys of carbon steels with non-ferrous metals, Coy Baker developed a unique fusion welding technique that differs from the usual processes, combining technique and aesthetics.
Not only are the resulting steels visually stunning, but they are also much stronger than alloys produced by conventional fusion welding.
So it's easy to see why we're one of the first in Europe to be able to offer you these creations!
