304L stainless steel is an austenitic, non-hardening stainless steel. Positioned on the sides of the blade, its relatively low hardness will allow it to maintain good flexibility despite an NCV60 cutting edge that can reach 58-59 Hrc.

With 0.6% carbon and the presence of nitrogen in its composition, it offers a good hardness to corrosion resistance ratio.
