G10 Damascus multi-coloured plate for knives handles.
For shaping your knives handles, this model of G10 Damascus multi-coloured plate combines originality and resistance.
They are composed of layers of woven fiberglass, impregnated with coloured epoxy resin in random and original patterns.
The G10 Damascus sheets are heat treated under high pressure for complete drying and curing.
The composite material thus obtained combines qualities that are particularly appreciated in all areas of industry, and especially in cutlery:
- High strength.
- Very low moisture absorption.
- High level of electrical insulation.
- High level of chemical resistance.
- High level of thermal resistance (maximum operating temperature: 140°C - 284°F).
- High level of ignition resistance (94HB NEMA standard).
The sheets are then cut on a horizontal or vertical plane, revealing surprising and original patterns.
G10 composite (or Garolite): a material that can be used for everything.
This composite material, with its exceptional properties, was first developed for the high-tech industry (aeronautics, aerospace, automobile construction, computer and electrical industries).
Under the name FR-4 (short for Flame Retardant 4) it is the leading material for electrical engineering and the manufacture of electronic board supports.
Due to its exceptional strength and ease of processing, G10 is used in a wide range of applications such as
- Nautical applications.
- Electrical and thermal insulators.
- Jigs and fixtures.
- Knife handles.
- Firearm stock coatings.
- Roller skates.
A material of choice for cutlery.
For the creation of original and unique knives, G10 Damascus multi-coloured plate is widely used in the cutlery industry for the shaping of folding or fixed blade knives handles and the manufacture of bolsters or inserts.
For a perfect customisation of folding knives, the G10 Damascus multi-coloured plate offer a remarkable and original aesthetic after shaping and polishing.
Kitchen or outdoor knives with a fixed blade, in addition to an incomparable aesthetic, will be provided with an exceptional resistance in extreme conditions of use and a great facility of maintenance.
In our range of G10 Damascus Plates, the most difficult thing for the cutler will undoubtedly be to decide on the choice of shades.
We offer 5 shades on an anthracite black background:
All the creativity of the cutler will be expressed with his choice of colour for a perfect harmony of his works.
What tools are needed to machine G10?
Machining, sanding and polishing of composite materials in general and G10 Damascus multi-coloured plate in particular can be done very easily with the usual tools (saws, drills, milling cutters, discs and abrasive papers).
G10 Damascus multi-coloured plate are made of a woven fiberglass and epoxy resin assembly dried and heat cured under high pressure, which gives them exceptional strength.
However, while the abrasive properties of fiberglass do not affect the ease, accuracy and quality of machining, they can be more demanding on conventional steel tooling or standard abrasives.
These will become dull or worn more quickly and will need to be resharpened more frequently.
Abrasive belts and discs will also wear out faster and need to be changed more regularly.
To extend the life of composite machining tools, it is best to use carbide tools and abrasives to save valuable time and money.
