The blacksmith's "3rd hand".

Every blacksmith knows: a tool that's well in hand and a part that's well held make a part that's easy to work on.

Sometimes referred to as the blacksmith's "3rd hand", the forge guillotine is a simple and effective device for holding hot-forming tools firmly in place.

To create a groove or shoulder on a knife blade, for example, or even to forge a guard, this device firmly holds the upper and lower stamps that have been previously shaped to the desired shape.

This is an invaluable aid for the artisan blacksmith, who simply has to position the workpiece between the two stamps and hammer it into shape.

An easy-to-use forge guillotine.

Mobile and robust, this forge guillotine can be used in the simplest way possible by fixing the upper and lower stamps using plates held firmly in place by screws.

The clamp fixings are removable and allow the use of tools 10 or 20mm (0.394in or 0.787in) thick by 50mm (1.97in)  long. Of course, the height must allow the workpiece to pass through unhindered.

The well thought-out C-shaped open design and stamp holders offset by a few degrees make it easy to use the forging tongs to approach the workpiece without obstruction.

Its well-thought-out, open, C-shaped design and stamp holders offset by a few degrees make it easy to approach the workpiece with the blacksmith's tongs, which are not obstructed.

With a vertical opening of 100mm (3.94in), not including the stamps, the forge guillotine can be used to work fairly large workpieces.

A robust guillotine that's easy to move.

With its rather modest dimensions of around 250mm (9.84in) deep, 220mm (8.66in) high and 120mm (4.72in) wide, this robustly built forge guillotine weighs only around 8.6kg and can be easily transported from one place to another in the workshop or even, for field blacksmiths, incorporated into a travelling workshop.

Changing tools is quick and easy, as is fixing it to a workbench or to the square hole in the anvil.

Robust stamps for all shapes.

forge guillotine tools (stamps) are numerous and varied, as are the shapes to be produced.

Groove stamps or slicing stamps, the shapes and uses can be as diverse as the blacksmith's imagination can be fertile.

Eurotechni offers unworked upper and lower stamps, i.e. with no predetermined shape, which leaves the smith free to create the shapes of his own choice, unique and original, and above all perfectly suited to the objects he is going to make.

Generously sized at 20mm (0.787in) wide by 50mm (1.97in) long, the upper stamp is 150mm (5.91in) high and the lower 80mm (3.15in).

With these massive stamps made from unhardened C45 tool steel, blacksmiths can easily create unique and original shapes to personalise their cutlery or other creations.

Of course, the stamps will need to be heat-treated once they have been worked and formed before use. The generous dimensions of our stamps mean that they can be "re-used" to modify or adapt the shape, or even change it completely.
