Forge Markus Balbach, specialized in the manufacture of Damascus.

The Markus Balbach workshops are familiar with the forge. The adventure begins in 1963 in the city of Iserlohn in Germany where Eduard Balbach installs its artisanal forge.

In 1991, Markus Balbach created a second workshop in Laubuseschbach, near Frankfurt, and perpetuates the family tradition of trainers. Surrounded by specialists, he develops and perfects the forge technique of damask steels in the purest tradition of fire welding.

The Markus Balbach team produces the highest quality damask steels thanks to its traditional know-how and its in-depth knowledge of the manufacture of damask steels.

Today, if the techniques of manufacture of Damascus Carbon and Stainless steel remain faithful to the tradition, the production tool has largely perfected and modernized by the assistance of technology cutting machines and robots developed internally.

The forge Markus Balbach can thus provide in quantities a wide range of Damascus steels in a wide variety of sections, compositions and models that they are classic, unpublished, or even personalized at the customer's request.

Damascus Balbach's manufacturing technique:

The Markus Balbach forge produces in the most traditional way varieties of damask steels as amazing as rare, such as meteorite-damascus (wrought from the real real meteorites and steel), the Tirpitz-Damascus (forged steel from the battleship "Tirpitz" and steel tools), the Eurofighter-Damascus (forged from steel cannons mounted on Eurofighter aircraft and steel to Bearings or Tools), Leo-Damast © (forged from steel from the barrels of Leopard I combat tanks of the Bundeswehr, steel steel for cold and steel for bearings).

The Balbach Damascus steels come from a unique technology.

For each variety, the most modern raw materials are used to produce these high-grade composite steels.

Composite steels are subject to a complex production process and meet all the specific requirements of the customer. Forged using traditional charcoal forges and gas forges, they are worked at the anvil or one of the five powerful Hammers of the Markus Balbach forge.

By the patented DSC® process (Damascus SuperClean), Markus Balbach produces exceptional quality damask steels, extreme cleanliness, particularly fine grain, free of weld defects. These damages are available in several different shades: carbon, stainless steel, stainless steel, Titanium, Zirconium-Titanium etc ...

Find all the advantages of Balbach Carbon Damascus:

The DSC® Carbon range is generally made up of 160 layers. It stands out for its excellent cutting properties, its very fine structure and its great hardness after quench (up to 63 hrc). This carbon Damascus steel will also be poorly sensitive to the heat treatment. Composed of 90mcv8 (O2), deep black shade and 45NCD16 with 4% nickel, the DSC Carbon range also offers very contrasting patterns.

DSC Damascus Stainless steel range:

The DSC® stainless steel is a martensitic damask stainless steel generally made up of 120 layers. It is characterized above all by good cutting, a very fine structure and a high hardness after quench (up to 62 HRC). This stainless steel damage will also be very little sensitive to deformation during heat treatment. Composed of N690 (1% C + Cobalt) and Nitro-B (0.5% C + Nitrogen), the DSC® Inox is a technically efficient damask and fit with food.

INOX-S DSC range: Sandvik properties

The DSC® INOX-S range has similar DSC® stainless steel features with greater wealth of contrasts and a better adequacy of revelation. Always anxious to use the best stainless steel to forge his Damascus, Balbach appealed to Sandvik, a Swedish company known worldwide for the high quality quality of his nuances. Composed of 7C27MO2 and 19C27 (0.9% c), the DSC INOX-S offers a very fine structure, an excellent cutting of the cutting edge and a good contrast after revelation.

DSC Austenite, ideal for creating jewelry:

The Austenite DSC® range is composed of two non-dipping and non-magnetic stainless steels. Austenitic high quality, this stainless steel damask is handmade and offers wide possibilities in creating jewelry, watches or high quality decoration elements.

A range of Damascus titanium colorful

The DSC® range Titanium is composed of two or more qualities of titanium. Stainless, its exceptional resistance to corrosion and its lightness make it a material of choice for quality products in many sectors. Its surprisingly colored appearance and the endless variety of its patterns make it an ideal material for innovative decorative and utility objects such as jewelry, silverware, glasses frames or handles knives.
