A brand new knife steel "Made in Europe".
ApexUltra is a new addition to the 66+ HRC range of knives steels. ApexUltra is a European designed low alloy steel with exceptional properties due to its purity, fine carbides, toughness and well balanced alloy composition.
A perfectly balanced composition.
With a high tungsten content (approx. 2.60%), ApexUltra is the toughest knife steel in its range with a hardness of up to 66HRC and more after heat treatment.
The well-balanced alloy gives the blades a smoothness and excellent edge retention which makes it perfect for the manufacture of kitchen knives, carving knives, outdoor knives or traditional razor blades.
Outstanding properties for knifemaking.
Such exceptional qualities could not escape the attention of knifemakers, especially when it comes to the creation of high-quality forged knives for the kitchen or for outdoor use and challenges in the wilderness.
With a high proportion of tungsten in its composition (2.60%), ApexUltra knife steel is easy to forge (1120°C - 800°C/2050°F - 1475°F) and, after appropriate heat treatment, the structure is not altered in any way and its components remain exceptionally fine, thus avoiding the risk of micro-cracks and breakage by reaching a Rockwell hardness of 66 HRC and above.
Forgeable and weldable for the creation of one-piece, tactical and bushcraft knives.
This brand new knife steel can easily be forged and forge-welded to create, for example, a magnificent damascus or sandwich blade, following traditional methods for original creations of one-piece, tactical or bushcraft knives, provided that you already have significant experience in forge-welding.
There is no doubt that the knifemaker's art will give this brand new steel its letters of nobility in creations that are as solid and durable as they are aesthetic.
Good edge retention and easy sharpening.
For the cutler, as well as for the user, the essential qualities of a knife blade also and above all include good edge retention and ease of sharpening, particularly in the case of knives subject to heavy use and stress, such as tactical and bushcraft knives.
In measurements carried out by Dr. Larrin THOMAS, a world-renowned American steelmaker and steel specialist, ApexUltra knife steel performed extremely well in the CATRA edge retention tests, leaving other high hardness low alloy steels widely used in the tool steel and cutlery industry behind.
The fineness of the carbides used in the composition of ApexUltra knife steel allows for easy sharpening with a whetstone or hides, without the need for specific diamond tools, for an exceptional edge finish.
Eurotechni Thiers: First French ApexUltra partner for Europe.
Eurotechni, supplier of knife steels since 1962 for its industrial customers, craftsmen, but also private amateurs from the Thiers basin, heirs to a knife-making tradition of more than half a thousand years, is constantly looking for the best knife steels.
As the first French ApexUltra partner in Europe, we offer formats of 5 or 15 mm thickness and 40, 50 or 120 mm width.
At the same time, to sign and certify your creations and achievements, Eurotechni proposes a stamping stamp and a chemical marking stencil (AU) which will guarantee ApexUltra quality for your customers.
