A "fossil wood" for unique knives
Bog oak is a special wood species, in more ways than one. It comes from an oak in the process of being fossilized, which was found at the bottom of a swamp. The very specific composition of these bogs (without oxygen and in a highly mineralized soil) preserves the appearance of the trunk, even if the wood darkens as it ages - for several thousand years. Bog oak wood is very precious, not only because of its history, but also because of its work: it is estimated that on a trunk, only 10% of the material can be used. The result is a rot-proof wood, very resistant to water, whose colours, once shaped and polished, are reminiscent of ebony.
