An exceptional blacksmith's hammer.

This Habermann hammer was designed down to the last detail by Alfred Habermann, the Czech-German master blacksmith, sculptor and designer nicknamed the "Pope of the Forge".

In the second half of the 20th century, Alfred Habermann travelled the world, enriching his techniques and his art with the greatest master blacksmiths such as the German Fritz Kühn and the Italian Toni Benetton, both of whom are world-renowned.

The Bohemian blacksmith.

In 1975, Alfred Habermann set up his own "forge in the forest" workshop near Studená, a small town in the Czech Republic, on the high plateaux of Bohemia-Moravia.

It was here that he produced his most famous works, his art and passion giving rise to numerous books, documentaries and even a film, "The Blacksmith of Bohemia", released in 1993.

An Alfred Habermann Prize to reward the best blacksmiths.

Since 2008, the year Alfred Habermann died, a prize in his name has been awarded to honour outstanding blacksmiths in the art of forging and metalwork.

The prize is awarded at Europe's largest symposium of blacksmiths and metal sculptors (Hefaiston) at Helfštýn Castle in Central Moravia.
