An incredibly fine Baker Forge Damascus steel.
Forged in the traditional way by the Baker Forge & Tool workshops, this "Feather" pattern Baker Forge Damascus has a remarkably fine appearance with its 9,000 layers of 15N20 and 1084 carbon steels.
The Tight W's Feather pattern gives a surprisingly soft impression of the steel.
Contrast mastered by a perfectly balanced alloy.
Made from 15N20 carbon steel with a high nickel content and 1084 carbon steel (the equivalent of XC75 carbon steel, well known to cutlers), Baker Forge Damascus steel Tight W's Feather offers a controlled contrast between the lighter parts of the 15N20 nickel steel and the darker parts of the 1084 steel.
This perfectly controlled contrast reinforces the obvious impression of softness in this tight feather pattern.
Hardness controlled by heat treatment.
Thanks to the qualities of 15N20 and 1084 knifemaking steels, Baker Forge Damascus steel Tight W's Feather can be heat-treated to give it a Rockwell hardness of up to around 61 HRC for maximum wear resistance and an exceptional blade edge.
Depending on your type of knife project, don't hesitate to ask our specialists for advice on successful heat treatment.

From the mountains of North Carolina to your workshop.
Straight from the imagination and skilled hands of Coy Baker, Tight W's Feather 9,000-ply Damascus steel is produced by the Baker Forge & Tool workshops founded in 2016.
Located on the borders of North Carolina and Tennessee, Coy Baker's Baker Forge & Tool workshops have their hammers ringing near the small town of Zionville, nestled at an altitude of 980 m in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains.
Coy Baker, curious, tenacious and creative, is the originator of an original fusion welding technique that allows him to create daring damascus steels composed of carbon steels and layers of copper, nickel or stainless steel.
An unlikely combination of metals with little compatibility between them, Coy Baker has nonetheless succeeded in using his secret welding technique to produce assemblies that have been subjected to numerous tests and trials that have shown them to be stronger than assemblies made using conventional fusion welding, and in particular more resistant to shearing.
