Presentation of the stainless steel cutlery X6Cr17 :
X6Cr17, more frequently referred to with the German (1.4016) or American standards (430), is a ferritic stainless steel with an excellent price/quality ratio.
A non-hardening steel:
Unlike martensitic stainless steel, 430 is corrosion resistant without heat treatment. It has much better anticorrosion abilities but has poor mechanical characteristics
A steel to make liners or bolsters for knives:
It is used for the manufacture of parts of appearance only: knife liners, bolsters, inserts... If you want to make a liner-lock folding knife, you may use another type of steel : AISI 420 stainless steel or Grade 5 titanium We recommend the use of our AISI 430 rods to rivet you handles and/or bolsters. Manufactured in the same grade they will have the same visual appearance after polishing.
