Baker Forge CopperMai Ni Shim Ripple Coppermascus/Nickel/80Crv2

What is "Coppermascus"?

In 2020, the Baker Forge workshops of Coy Baker, a famous blacksmith from the mountains of western North Carolina in the USA, developed a technique for welding copper to carbon steel.

Numerous tests revealed that the adhesion of the materials obtained using this technique was far superior to that obtained using conventional fusion welding processes.

The shear strength of the alloys created far exceeds that of standard alloys.

The result of this technique is called "Coppermascus", a highly resistant damascus steel with a unique aesthetic.

Baker Forge damascus "CopperMai Ni Shim" steel.

Coy Baker's Baker Forge & Tool workshops, never short of imagination and creativity, have created an exceptionally strong and aesthetically pleasing damascus steel with this special alloy consisting of a core of 80Crv2 carbon steel coated with a first layer of pure nickel, itself coated with a second layer of Baker Forge damask steel made from 15n20 and 1084 carbon steels with copper imbrication, "Coppermascus".

The breathtaking and original result is guaranteed after polishing and etching with Baker Forge Gator Piss, a mixture specially designed to reveal Baker Forge damascus steels in the best possible conditions.

An undulating copper pattern.

For this damascus blade, Baker Forge has created an undulating copper assembly on 15n20/1084 Baker Forge damask steel.

Called "Ripple", this pattern will give your knife blades a unique touch.

Outdoor knives, tactical knives, American Bowies: knives with extraordinary strength and a highly original look.

Bars cut to order.

Eurotechni, one of the first distributors of Baker Forge damascus steel in Europe, offers "CopperMai Ni Shim" Ripple damascus steel cut to perfectly match your material to your knife project.

With a width of 50 mm (1.97in) and a thickness of 3 mm (0.12in), each bar is ground to obtain 100% clean steel.

CopperMai Ni Shim" Ripple bars are delivered annealed and ready to use.

The Baker Forge & Tool workshops.

Baker Forge is an American company based in Zionville, in the mountains on the borders of North Carolina and Tennessee.

The brainchild of Coy Baker, a creative and talented young blacksmith, the Baker Forge workshops create "classic" damascus steels and "special" damascus steels incorporating bronze, nickel, copper and other non-ferrous metals assembled using a forge-melting technique developed by Baker Forge.

The "exotic" steels created by Baker Forge using this technique are called "Coppermascus", "CopperMai", "GoMai", "NiShim" and "CuShim".

Founded in 2019, the fledgling Baker Forge workshops give free rein to their boundless creativity in the production of innovative, high-performance steels, much to the delight of knifemakers the world over.

Gator Piss: For the revelation of Baker Forge damask steels.

Baker Forge damascus steels can be etched with conventional acids, those used for the etching of "standard" damascus grades, taking 1000 precautions.

Assemblies consisting of copper, bronze, pure nickel and steels will be developed in the best conditions and without risk using the Gator Piss etchant developed by Baker Forge, a developer with appropriate mixtures which will sublimate carbon steels as well as non-ferrous metals without excessive aggressiveness.
