A new Baker Forge Damascus steel with striking contrasts.
The Baker Forge & Tool workshops never cease to amaze.
Never short of ideas, with exceptional creativity and boundless audacity, Baker Forge has created a new Damascus Coppermascus steel by replacing its traditional 15n20 steel with pure nickel 200.
The result is a new grade of Coppermascus Damascus steel with a copper/1084 carbon steel/nickel composition: Coppermascus "Elite" Damascus steel.
CopperMai - Chevron "Elite" knifemaking steel.
The top-of-the-range Baker Forge Damascus steel, the "Elite" CopperMai with Chevron pattern remains faithful to an assembly forged on an 80crv2 carbon steel core, but this time coated with an "Elite" Coppermascus damascus composed of 1084 carbon steel, copper and pure nickel.
The etching process of this alloy reveals a remarkable play of colours, with the deep black of the 1084 steel contrasting elegantly with the dazzling white of the pure nickel, from which emerge coppery sinuosities.
A pure feast for the eyes!
An alloy created using an original fusion welding technique.
Baker Forge "Elite" CopperMai - Chevron Damascus knifemaking steel, like every Baker Forge damascus steel, has outstanding strength qualities, far superior to alloys obtained by traditional fusion welding, thanks to a welding technique initiated and developed by Coy Baker, founder of the Baker Forge & Tool workshops.
This technique, for which Baker Forge has the secret, makes it possible to obtain assemblies that are perfectly reliable and resistant, in particular to the shear tests of a series of uncompromising trials.
Etching and sublimation of Baker Forge "Élite" CopperMai - Chevron Damascus steel knife blades.
The originality and diversity of the materials used in the manufacture of Damask Baker Forge steel led the Baker Forge & Tool workshops to develop a special chemical solution to etch and magnify knife creations, particularly those made of Baker Forge "Elite" CopperMai - Chevron Damascus steel.
Specially formulated to etch the Baker Forge damascus steels with copper, bronze, nickel alloys and other non-ferrous metals, Gator Piss preserves and enhances all creations without the risk of excessively altering the softest components.

Find out more about Baker Forge & Tool.
Born from Coy Baker's passion for forging steel, the Baker Forge & Tool workshops are located in the small town of Zionville, nestled at an altitude of 3209 ft (980 m) in Watauga County, on the border between the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee, in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains.
From an early age, Coy Baker forged steel with all his enthusiasm and imagination.
Some ten years passed between the purchase of his first anvil from an Amish community in Pennsylvania and the founding of the Baker Forge & Tool workshops, without ever straying from his passion: forging.
Curious, daring and creative, Coy Baker has devised improbable alloys of carbon steel with non-ferrous metals such as copper, bronze, nickel and stainless steel.
His tenacity led him to develop a totally original fusion welding technique that differs from conventional processes, producing not only results with stunning aesthetic effects, but also Damascus steels with greater strength than alloys obtained by conventional fusion welding.
A series of tests have shown the Damascus steel to be far more resistant than materials obtained by standard fusion, particularly in shear tests.
This method has enabled Eurotechni to create Damask Baker Forge steel with exotic names such as "CopperMai", "BronzeMai" and "San Mai", which are now marketed worldwide.
Eurotechni is one of the leading distributors of Damask Baker Forge steel in Europe.
